CROSS CULTURAL DESIGN
Eggarat Wongcharit is a man with vision-a vision for shapes to come, that is. Studied and worked in Milan for many years, he came back in 1991 and worked as a furniture and interior designer. He is currently a professor at Rangsit University, developing courses that help molding the future Masters of Fine Arts in Design. The previous president of Industrial Designers Society (IDS), he is also the creative behind Crafactor, a furniture company that combines Thailand's famed craftsmanship with modern design process. The result is eye-catching pieces. Eggarat refers his signature piece as the Sputnik. He uses old craft such as silver leaf square embedded in fiberglass body and the look is fantastic and futuristic.
